Then there is the phenomenon of cocooning, where the consumer tries to shield itself from all sorts of marketing messages. Do-no-call lists are in place, making it harder and harder for companies to get their messages across to the consumer.
Network marketing, which is based on moving a service or product to the end consumer based on personal relationships, delivers a strong answer to these challenges. More and more traditional companies have discovered that network marketing is a very cost effective way to reach consumers.
Of course we can’t forget about the internet. This technology has greatly helped making the world smaller, making it easier to find and disperse information. Network marketing companies have pioneered the internet to inform, train and motivate their independent distributors.
The cost of home office equipment has decreased considerably. These days you can set up a home office for just a couple hundred bucks. Some may argue that you don’t even need that much. Any computer with an internet connection and a phone would be enough for most network marketers to operate their business.
This makes it affordable for everyone to start a home based business. Compare this to the cost of running a normal business and it becomes clear why more and more people are being attracted to a home based opportunity.
And then there is the growing lack of trust in the corporate world. Not too long ago, people where quite used to having a job for life. Or at least until they decided to quit. Nowadays many people have come to realize that job security is a joke. Too many people have lost their jobs more than once only to find out that they were nothing but a number to their corporate employer.
It’s not just the fact that you have to go out to find another job to feed your family. It’s also the fact that you’ve been listening to your employer bloating about the importance of their human assets when in the end it turns out the employees were just considered human assets.
Network marketing not only offers people a chance to create some extra income, it also provides them with the opportunity to get some of their dignity back. Helping them realize that they don’t necessarily have to depend on their employer’s paycheck. The support structures that many good network marketing companies offer are a great help to individuals joining this type of business.

The advantages of a home based business are evident and in the near future we will certainly see more of it. Looking at today’s trends in the economy it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the era of monolithic companies offering jobs for life has ended. It’s time to have the courage to bet on yourself again and home based business is a good way to do so. And for those people that decide to take this step, taking a serious look at network marketing is just common sense. Even in a time where common sense isn’t that common anymore.

Whether technology like computers is your forte or not, it is a means to make money if you have some skills to offer in specific areas. Some people are great at marketing, or at building websites, so they sell online design and SEO services. Others are handymen, great with a toolkit and can build houses, perform expert carpentry tasks and so could setup an online business that sells their own style of furniture or offer an interior design service.
There are two paths towards an online business opportunity.
- A home based job, or a home based business.
If you wish to work from home, in your own business, you will need to establish your skill strengths. No need to know how to create a website as there are plenty of hosts such as Hostgator that will provide tools that can enable you to set up a site in minutes. All you need to do is draft a business plan, whom will you sell to, how you will reach them and what’s your competition? Do you have an edge on the market? Can you offer something that is missing with your competitors?
So these are the first steps towards your own online business opportunity:
- Since you will be operating from your computer, are you updated with the use of word processors, spreadsheets and email? I suspect you are already, though if not, and you don’t have Microsoft Office then download the openoffice.org set of tools. It’s also a professional choice.
- This is a home based computer opportunity and not just an office based business, you will be operating from your PC or Mac.
Ensure it is reliable, been checked for spyware, and has an anti-virus program running. Don’t struggle with an old PC that is problematic, invest in a new one you are investing in your business.
- It is a common question in blogs; what is the most successful business idea? The business of working online is a changing one and it is best to focus on long term plans rather than making a fast buck. A home business computer opportunity starting from home has a great chance of success due to its low start up costs.
There are plenty of home-based jobs available particularly in the freelance sector. If you have specific skills, this is a great place to find work. Sites that can help you move along are craigslist, freelancer.com, freelanceswitch.com and flexjobs.com. It may be a good start if you need capital and more flexible time to seek out work while your business is building.
Be prepared to diversify right away if you don’t have a specialized skill. One of the most popular choices initially is freelance writing.
Many use their writing skills to increase their business exposure writing press releases, and articles containing sales copy to promote their products or services.
Common online based businesses include affiliate marketing programs, freelance writing services, design and programming, franchisee options selling products and being a reseller.

The system provides the framework for ensuring that the business is never entirely dependent on any one person. If you own the business, your future depends on the quality of your system.

Create professional marketing materials. Be courteous and pleasant in all your customer facing interactions. Basically, be someone people want to do business with.
- Automate your business as much as possible. Granted, you are just one person (right now) and might have a lot of extra time to take care of all the details. This might work for now, but won’t work into the future as you get busier and busier. It’s best to set up automatic systems and processes right from the start to free up your time to concentrate on the most profitable activities.

One of the hardest parts of running a home business is separating your work from your family and social life. Here are six proven ways to keep your home life running smoothly while keeping your business on track.
- First, create a work schedule and stick with it. It may be tempting to answer personal calls during the day or take business calls after-hours, but doing this actually shows that you’re expendable not dependable and people will take for granted that you’ll “always be there” for any little things that come up. Even though family comes first, stay true to your business hours and resist the urge to chat with friends or pick up groceries during working hours.
- Your friends may consider “working from home” an invitation to chat during the day or just go out for coffee or shopping for an afternoon. Make it clear that your business hours are just that for business. Leave personal calls for after-hours, and you’ll find that your friends will gradually accept your schedule without feeling slighted.
- Just because you have to set up a work schedule, doesn’t mean that you have to keep the same hours as everyone else. One of the benefits of working for yourself is setting your own hours to fit your most productive times. Whether you’re an early bird or a night owl, you’ll find that you’ll get much more done when you’re attuned to your body’s own natural rhythms. Some people work in the morning; take a break in the afternoon when the kids are home from school, and work again in the evening. Schedule your work time when you feel the most productive and you’ll find that things get done easier, faster and better than when you were dragging along during those same rigid work hours that everyone else has.
- If getting after-hours business calls or work day personal calls is a problem, it helps to have a separate business phone line, or at least an answering machine or voice mail, to take the incoming calls. This also gives your business a more professional appearance to clients than if you and your family make and receive calls from the same phone line.
- If at all possible, try to separate your “home office” from the rest of your home. If you don’t have the luxury of a separate room, a room partition or screen can be just as helpful. This also serves as a visual cue to family that you’re working and shouldn’t be bothered.
- Dress and act professionally while working. Some people find it helpful to dress in casual business attire during their working hours. This reinforces that just because you’re working from home doesn’t make you any less of a professional.
Answer the phone with your name, or business name, and keep your children off the phone during business hours. Also, spend money investing in the tools you need to do your job right. A cell phone, fax machine or even a budget computer can help turn your home office into a true work space.
If you follow all of these tips and stick with them, chances are you’ll find a routine that not only makes you feel productive and active in your business, but also projects the message that you mean business literally!

If you don’t have an online marketing campaign in place, you are not going to be there to find. If you aren’t there to find, you are going to watch your business eventually dry and blow away. You need to be online, and you need be online with a strategy in place.

The very first step is to make sure that you have a nice, professional looking website. You’d be shocked at how many businesses pay good money to put cheap looking websites on line. Good, attractive design is important, and it won’t cost you extra. It should also be consistent with the look of your business in general, including stationery and business cards.
The next step is to make sure that your website is search engine optimized. This is a big subject, but the basic idea is make sure that your site makes it as easy as possible for the search engines to put you at the beginning of their results for the keywords that your customers will be using. You can have a beautiful website and an excellent business, but without search engine optimization, you won’t get anywhere.
The next step in a good online marketing campaign is to make sure your website is capturing potential customer’s email addresses. You’ll need to set up an autoresponder service to make use of this, but they’re cheap and easy to use. Just make sure you offer your customers some reason to give their email
addresses. It may not be using money, but it is still a transaction, and you need to give good value.
This allows you to interact with customers and give them multiple chances to buy from you, in addition to keeping your business in their minds. The next time they want what you offer, you’re going to be the first person they think.
Once you have all that in place, you can experiment with using online advertising. There are lots of ways to this, from banner advertising, which is generally ineffective, to sponsoring a blog or website, which can be expensive, to pay per click, which is usually the best place to start. Pay per click puts a small ad related to whatever a person searching for next to their search engine results. You see this every time you use Google. You can use this to get visitors to your site, and if you have followed the above steps, turning them into customers.
There you go; you should be well on your way to you first online marketing campaign. These techniques are simple, but they can explode your business and put money in your pocket. Don’t wait to get started, because your competition might already be working on it.

You can also photoshop Paypal and Clickbank screen shots to “show” that you have made a lot more money than you really have. So, when finding a guru to follow, you should have a gut feeling that they have done what they’ve said they’ve done.
Is their plan something you feel you can do?
There are many kinds of internet marketing experts. Some recommend setting up a network of blogs and doing a ton of writing. Others use pay per click marketing in their strategies.
Some urge you to go offline and contact business owners to build websites for them. All of these strategies can work. The trick is to find a guru who can teach you the strategies you are most comfortable with yourself.
Do they say you can do it with “no work.”?
Let’s face it, there’s very little in life that you can achieve with no work. Every once in a while, someone hits the jackpot. Whether it is in Las Vegas or online. But, for the most part, making money of any kind requires work. If you see a guru promising a “no work” system, run away fast.
Is it ethical?
There are a number of ways you can make money on the internet that some can live with and others find downright unethical. Make sure you are able to live with yourself in the morning before you start any internet marketing scheme.

Affiliate programs should be vying to have you recommend them because a recommendation from you should bring in a flood of traffic.
If you are selling your own products, this remains true as well. If you sell a customer an initial product and he or she likes it, they will probably be interested in a similar product you have to sell as well.
Bring them into your product funnel. You should plan up sells and down sells for each product you sell. Look at ways to repackage the products to add value. For instance, you can turn an ebook into an audio book and sell it again. Or, you can turn a bunch of short reports into one package.
If you value your customers, you will improve internet marketing strategy all around.
P. T. Barnum is “famous” for saying, “there’s a fool born every minute.” The truth is there is absolutely no record of him saying this. Joe Vitale named his biography of Barnum “There’s a Customer Born Every Minute.” That’s the mind set you should have if you want to really improve internet marketing strategy.
If you see the people on your list and the people who visit your website as customers, you will develop relationships that will last for many years. If you treat them as “fools” they may buy once, but they will be loath to ever purchase something from you again.
Furthermore, when you treat people as “marks,” it cheapens the whole buying online experience in general. It drives people to “big names” like Amazon rather than the smaller distributors who can offer real value.
Don’t fall into the “fool” trap. See and treat your customers as valuable because they are. That’s how you improve internet marketing results.

It takes more than viewing the ad the user needs to either click, or act on the ad in such a way that is beneficial for the main site. In this way, the advertiser only pays for conversions, leads or click that benefit them, putting some of the work into the affiliate’s hands.
Marketing on the internet can be very profitable, if done correctly and like actual advertising, there is no magic formula to get everyone into your site, but the effort will probably pay off.
Research and knowing how to actually do the marketing is vital this allows you to weed out those who can and those who cannot promote you. Internet in marketing a new concept, but one you can’t pass up.

Your plan should be divided into long term (5 year), mid term (1 year), quarterly, monthly, and daily objectives. This way, you stay on track.

If you systematize the plan, you will get better results. One person posted a question about why his writers never gave him titles to the articles. A responder asked him whether he had asked them to. If you have a system in place, when you bring on a new writer, he or she will know exactly what you expect of them.
Effective internet marketing also means developing a budget and sticking to it. Internet hobbyists buy every WSO or course on the market. They dabble in one thing, listen to an ecourse, buy a domain name they never use, etc. Someone who is marketing on a business developed budget will buy only the things he or she needs to move their business forward.
As you put together a real business plan for your internet marketing business, you will find that you are making a lot more money. It stops being something you are playing at on the evenings and weekends and starts to take shape as a “real” business.
Pretty soon, you will find that you can leave your day job and make the online world your primary source of income. Many people have done this before you. More, though, have played at it, and said, “internet marketing doesn’t work.” Those are mostly people who didn’t have any real plan.

Are you going to get JV partners? All of these things should be taken into account before you do anything else. For instance, if you are going to sell through Clickbank, you will need to develop
affiliate tools as part of the sales letter process. If you are going to be working with JV partners, you need to get them lined up. So, start working on the mechanism first.
Next, you are going to write your sales letter. Yes, this ebook internet marketing strategy calls for the sales letter before the book is ever written. Promise the world in your sales letter. Let people know you can cure cancer, fly them to the moon, or solve all of their financial worries.
Now, you’re ready to actually write the ebook. Go through your sales letter and actually make good on all of the promises you made.
This backward step internet marketing funnel is very effective in helping you to develop an ebook that actually sells.
But, some people have already developed the ebook and know they want to know how to market it. This is the position most people find themselves in. Unfortunately, you are at a disadvantage, but it can be overcome.
In this case, the ebook internet marketing strategy involves figuring out the delivery mechanism (such as Clickbank), then writing the appropriate sales letter for that medium using your ebook as the basis for the sales letter. If this is the case, go back and rework the ebook so that
you can deliver what is promised in the sales letter.
In sum, there are three steps to an ebook internet marketing strategy. First, you have to determine the delivery mechanism.
Then you have to write a sales letter. Finally you write the book. If you have done this backwards, it will mean more work in the short term because you will have to correct the mistakes you’ve made.
But, it can be done.

So, take the time to learn about PPC before starting, set your initial click values low, and set a daily cap on the amount you are willing to spend before you start.
Another website marketing strategy is called forum marketing. For some reason, many people do not like to do forum marketing despite the fact that it is wonderfully effective. What you do is join a forum that is relevant to your website. Initially, you should respond to other people’s posts with good information. Then, you should start your own posts offering information or asking smart questions.
After you have 25 or so posts, create a signature with a link back to your site. Don’t be blatant about it. When people consider you a valuable member of the forum, they will be curious about what else you have to offer and will check your website out. These people will already be pre-sold on you and will be open to whatever products or services you are selling.

You could even go after a certain niche of small businesses. It could be anything associated with the medical field, or sports, or the outdoors, or any niche. The sky really is the limit.
The more you get to know a niche, the better you will be at designing a marketing and advertising campaign around them.
An advertising and marketing campaign for yourself can also be tailored to go after a certain niche. It can also turn off a niche just as easily. Consider all of the tailoring to young, urban and “hip” people. It may have some funky music and slick graphics with whirly things and lots of dancing but will something like that be appealing to a group of doctors…who may, as a niche, have some
very deep pockets? Probably not.
What about your website that has the Goth thing going on or shows some great designs that would be good as a tattoo? Google’s page rank is a patented algorithm. Google considers more than half a billion variables when determining your rank on the search results.
No one person knows what all of these variables are – not even the person who oversees the code. So, anyone claiming to be a Google rank check authority should be viewed with caution.
Still, there are some things we do know about how page rank works.
Google flat out says that pages they believe are important get a higher page rank than others. Pages with higher rank tend to appear higher in the search results, though you will see page rank 5 pages occasionally ranking higher than page rank 7 pages for a specific search.
Google also sees the links on a page acting as a “vote” for other pages. So, if a highly ranked page links to your site, you get more “juice” out of it than when a friend with no page rank links to your site.
Most experts agree that backlinks from .gov and .edu sites to have higher link juice than other top level domains because they are restricted to not for profit sites.
One way to get .edu links is to take out online ads on college newspaper sites.
But, any links from PR 2 or higher sites can help your page rank. One way to get links is to post comments on with decent page rank. But make sure that Google “follows” the links on the page first. Some webmasters set their sites up so that you don’t get any link juice from your posts. You can do this by downloading free software on the internet.
Other ideas for increasing page rank include:
Join forums and post a link back to your website in your signature.
Every time you make a post, you’ll get link juice.
Submit your site to directories. Each directory which lists you will give you more of a chance of being listed higher in Google’s search results.

Business to business marketing has advantages over marketing to consumers that make marketing even easier. Business to business companies market their products and services to businesses rather than consumers in general. Some of the most successful businesses exclusively supply to other businesses.
This is one of the most lucrative business models possible today, and it has proven to be especially profitable when the business is conducted online. If you’re considering going into business providing products or services, then you’ll want to look into operating a business to business company.
With online business to business operation and marketing, many of the expenses of running a traditional business are gone or greatly reduced. This positively affects all the other aspects of running the company. Less expense means less time spent managing the money going out, and more money for important things like business to business marketing and promotion.
